ādara® Is Now a Registered European Union Trademark

On 10 February 2025, ādara® officially became a registered European Union trademark.

Human Material Loop filed the trademark in October 2024, and registration was granted on 10 February 2025. The registration covers textile fibres, yarns, threads, textiles, and fabrics, including products made from human hair.

The European Union trademark protects ādara® across the categories at the centre of its development, including raw textile fibres in Class 22, yarns and threads in Class 23, and textiles and fabrics in Class 24.

But the reason for registering the name goes beyond legal protection.

As ādara® begins to appear in products made by different manufacturers and brands, we want the name to provide a clear link back to the material, its origin, and the technology behind it.

This is particularly important for an ingredient brand. In the future, ādara® may sit inside an acoustic panel, a piece of furniture, a carpet or an architectural textile carrying another company's name. The trademark gives the material its own identity across those applications.

There is also a clear commercial reason for this. Recognition builds value and credibility. A manufacturer choosing ādara® is not purchasing an anonymous raw material, but working with a material technology that customers can identify across products and markets.

Recognition also comes with responsibility.

As more partners begin working with ādara®, the trademark gives Human Material Loop a way to define how the name is used. Products carrying ādara® should meet the ethical and environmental standards associated with the material, from responsible sourcing and traceability to processing and communication.

For Human Material Loop, this is an important part of scaling. Increasing production should not mean losing control over what the material represents.

The registration of ādara® therefore marks both a commercial and organisational milestone. It protects the identity being built around the material, while creating a framework for the companies that will work with it in the future.

A registered name is only the beginning. Its value will ultimately be determined by what we build behind it.

The name ādara® comes from Sanskrit, where ādara means care, respect, attention, and reverence.
