Pre-Seed Funding from LIOF

Human Material Loop has secured pre-seed financing from LIOF through the Limburg Early Phase Fund, supporting the next stage in bringing our human hair-based material technology to industrial scale.

The investment follows earlier support from LIOF in 2023, which helped Human Material Loop develop its first prototype. The new financing marks a shift from proving that human hair can become a textile material to demonstrating that the technology can work at industrial scale.

The funding will support larger production trials, the development of a strong intellectual property portfolio and the first steps towards commercialisation. As LIOF describes it, the objective is to test production at industrial scale and ultimately bring the product to market.

For Human Material Loop, scale has always been central to the proposition. Human hair is generated continuously around the world, yet most cut hair is treated as waste. Our technology creates a pathway for this existing biological resource to become a raw material for the textile industry.

The next phase will focus on proving that the material can be produced consistently using existing textile manufacturing infrastructure, while working with manufacturers to test performance and market applications. Initial development is focused on interiors, with applications ranging from acoustic materials and wall coverings to curtains and other textile products.

The pre-seed financing is an important step between material innovation and industrial adoption. It gives Human Material Loop the opportunity to move beyond prototypes, build the technology and manufacturing foundation required for scale, and begin establishing a new category of keratin-based materials.

As we have said from the beginning, without scale, there is no impact.
